All graticules devolution

I noticed that ReletBot hasn't created any new grat pages in a while. Is it still looking in All_Graticules for changes (as opposed to the new subpages, e.g. All graticules/Eurasia)? Or is it just not feeling well? --starbird 20:35, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

It should be looking at the subpages only. But I will check if it is up and running. -- relet 20:38, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. It had indeed stopped working a while ago. -- relet 21:23, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the Ribbon...

Is there a Second and Third place winner? --NWoodruff 23:16, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

As if there could be a second Atlanta. ;) -- relet 23:21, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Saturday hashes

'xcuse me, but i count only 19 such items (assuming your bolds are correct), not 29: 9 in 2008, 9 in 2009, and 1 in 2010. Where's the mismatch? ;-) -- CrystyB 15:48, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey. Bold items are the more interesting expeditions, not the saturdays. I started this before I realized that Saturdays are more important for some. :) -- relet 15:55, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, i see. Too bad there's no mention about this particular meaning of the boldiness...
Anyway, shall we design a way to mark those which were on Saturdays? It would help the Xkcd centurion achievement page. Also, in case you don't want to bother, would you mind my editing your archives to address this? -- CrystyB 16:23, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
No, go ahead. If you find a nice icon to represent Saturdays, you could just prepend it... or affix it... or something. :) -- relet 18:17, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking of a (searchable) text-only mark (like "(Sat)" near the date), but i've seen other use Saturday meetup, considering that Meetup.PNG might not apply to some expeditions. I could add both text and image, if that's ok. -- CrystyB 20:00, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I'd prefer something not too wide, please. :) I use some small screens. One icon, or maybe a text, but not both. -- relet 21:15, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Are those icon sizes acceptable? How about an asterisk or percent sign, and icon? -- CrystyB 21:40, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
I have my icons in 24px usually. Asterisks are good I guess. And if you happen to find that I have had 13 weekend hashes out of 52 in the graticule 52,13, that must be a sign of sorts. -- relet 16:30, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome :)

Hi Relet, thanks for your welcome!

I didn't know you could just fill the continental All Graticules list and let the bot do the hard work of creating the pages, so thanks for the tip, it will save me a lot of work :) I'll move the map to the proper page once it's finished.

I'll write some reports eventually, when I manage to unstick myself from my computer chair and actually go geohashing :) --Ivan 20:56, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

You survived MÉXICO THE RIDE!!

dude, why did you went to Tecámac!!!

nice you accomplished a geohash here in México and that you survived going all the way down there in a "colectivo" without being robbed (let's be honest, that region of the valley isnt a good place to be roaming around).

dude, hope you come sometime soon and do a Geohash then.

Saludos desde México --Cid

Grat page "standard format"

I just noticed ReletBot forced one of my edits into the "standard format". Do all grat pages really need to conform to such a format? I believe the extra data i had added in there would've been useful for lazy people (like me), who can't be bothered to reason out the coords of adjacent grats... -- CrystyB 12:51, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

If you don't want any bots editing your pages, you can add Template:Maintained to them. The bot will be kind enough to skip over them :) --Meghan 15:17, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

I smell adventure!

Any particular reasons why you put User:LadyDeathstrike into Category:Needs attention? *nudge nudge* :D -- relet 22:04, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

There's an expedition on that page to move to its own. Jiml 22:37, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
It has been moved. You can find it in the same Needs attention category Scratch that. I took care of it :) --Meghan 22:40, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Regional Geohash Maps

Hi Relet,

On the Georgia page, your comment for one of the edits was, "I don't really see the point of making these, when we have [1], but still." I just wanted to throw my two cents in: I think the maps are less for showing which graticles are virgin, and more for regional geohashing. That, at least, is the root of some of the early maps of European countries. The virgin/non-virgin coloring is then just added information on the map. It may also be possible that newcomers to the wiki might search for their home state (in the U.S.) and use the map to find their home graticule. Maybe more than anything, I just enjoy making them and I only have three left to do, so I'll just finish the 50 U.S. states. --Dvdllr 15:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

I see. That makes much more sense for me now. Thanks for pointing that out. :) I created the original map of Germany to see how much coverage we have achieved - IIRC before dawidi wrote his tool. Re: Cosmetic changes in Georgia - In the graticule templates we had eventually settled on giving the full name of graticules named after places in neighbouring countries (or US/CA/AUS states). That's why I left them written in full in the map of Georgia.. but then I realize that we haven't done that in any of the other regional/country maps. Yay for consistency! -- relet 16:01, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Calendar girl links

Just found that none of the links to relet.net on the Calendar Girls achievement page are working?

Link to the IRC client gives a 404?

Hey there, noticed that the link on the main page to the IRC web-client ([2]) has been giving a 404 for a while now. Could you have a look at that otherwise we should probably remove the link ... cheers - Mampfred 06:52, 16 January 2011 (EST)

Should be fixed in the meantime. Server has been down for a good while. Thanks for the notice! -- relet 17:54, 20 January 2011 (EST)

Is ReletBot DEAD?????

He hasn't made a page in quite some time, I'm worrying. Maybe you have overworked him and he died due to lack of sleep mode? Or has he not been oiled? Or is he just taking a long nap? I'm pretty sure he is the closest thing to a friend any robot has ever been, so I worry! --Hewhoamareismyself 21:29, 22 January 2011 (EST)

Sorry, I didn't know you know each other so well. He is in the process of moving, and usually operates whenever he's needed. I'll make sure he pops around some time soon. -- relet 02:52, 24 January 2011 (EST)

Also something I just found, a while ago he named a graticule in Brazil (Indian Ocean) if I had time right now I would fix it, but I don't. --Hewhoamareismyself 22:02, 27 January 2011 (EST)
