''This is a new section designed to collect planned expeditions in one place. It is hoped that it can eventually be automated, placing all pages in [[:Category:Expedition planning]] for each date under the appropriate subheading, but for now it is manual.''
There are a few ways to find your local graticule page. If you live in or near the largest place around, chances are your graticule is named after that city. Try typing its name into the search box to the left. Click ''Search'' (not ''Go''). If you don't find a page there that describes the one degree square in which you live, then try the map.

Go to the map on [http://www.xkcd.com/geohashing this page], zoom out, and scroll around the world as necessary to find your home. Click on it so that a red rectangle appears around it. If your graticule has been named, the name will appear at the bottom, in a row beginning with the words '''Wiki pages: Day /  Meetup /'''. The name is a link that will take you to the graticule page. If there is no name (you may need to wait a moment for it to appear), or if when you click on the name it takes you to an edit box instead of a page, then no one has yet created a page for your graticule. You have the honour of being the first geohasher there. You are still 'invited' to that day's location, but you'd best bring a friend if you want company when you get there.

Add a new subheading if you are planning a more recent expedition, and move the subheadings for dates that have passed in their respective timezones to the Recent Meetups section. Each entry should be a link to a <nowiki>[[YYYY-MM-DD LAT LONG]]</nowiki> page giving more details of the planning, even if the plan is simply "[[User:thepiguy|thepiguy]] will attend."

Upcoming Meetups

You too can have this much fun.

xkcd local meetups take place every Saturday at 4:00pm (local time) in your local graticule, when the location is accessible. Many graticules attempt a meeting any day of the week that the coordinates can be reached.

Today's Coordinates

West of -30°: .4130363, .5996918
East of -30°: .3747021, .1226226
Globalhash: -22.553626649540,-135.855858356330

Please check your local graticule page for more details about meetup organisation, fellow geohashers, etc. See Help:Contents for information on how to use these coordinates to find the meetup location.

Saturday Coordinates

The coordinates for the next Saturday meetups, scheduled for 11 May 2024, will be based on the Dow’s opening price published at 09:30 EDT (13:30 UTC) on Friday 10 May. See timeanddate.com to convert this time to your local time zone.

Planned Expeditions

This is a new section designed to collect planned expeditions in one place. It is hoped that it can eventually be automated, placing all pages in Category:Expedition planning for each date under the appropriate subheading, but for now it is manual.

Add a new subheading if you are planning a more recent expedition, and move the subheadings for dates that have passed in their respective timezones to the Recent Meetups section. Each entry should be a link to a [[YYYY-MM-DD LAT LONG]] page giving more details of the planning, even if the plan is simply "thepiguy will attend."
