About me
I live in Heidelberg, Germany and will visit hashpoints reachable by bike or foot (I like running long distances) and sometimes those reachable by train. I don't own a GPS yet.
Future Plans
A trip from May 15 to 23 will lead me to and through many graticules: Bad Brückenau, Germany - Paderborn, Germany (only the airport, with no time for detours) - Palma, Spain - Napoli, Italy - Civitavecchia, Italy - Marseille, France - Barcelona, Spain - then back to Bad Brückenau via Palma and Paderborn. I'll take my running gear with me, so there's a small chance for me to take a Mediterranean graticule's virginity.
After that, I'll buy a new bike to replace my rusty three-speed Hollandrad. This will increase my radius of operation greatly.
Achievements to Get
It's always nice to win an achievement along with a successful expedition. For me, some are more desirable than others.
- Walk to as many hashpoints as possible and beat the current distance record.
- Get naked at a hashpoint (also earning me the Calendar Girl Achievement).
- Send more hashcards.
- Collect cherries (current cherry count: 1).
- Receive media attention.
- Every geohasher's wet dream: The Globalhash.
Things to Do at Hashpoints
- Leave a hashtag.
- Combine geohashing with guerilla gardening.
- Leave a hashmark big and durable enough that it can be seen from space. Then wait for the next Google Earth imagery update.
- Revisit old hashpoints and document how the place changed (the above points make revisiting particularly interesting).
