The scene of the crime

On Ahornallee street in "Neuseeland" [1](german for: "New Zealand"), a district of Erkner, just 1.5km from S Erkner

The witnesses

The facts

Hiro

How should I start to describe the events of this fateful day? It's hard to remember how normal and peaceful a day started that should end with such a horrible deed. But let me try to tell you from the beginning....

My day started as uneventful as usual, I had my normal classes at university and managed to (once more) convince JUB to join me on this geohash - which meant that I now had the means of a more convenient method of transportation: his car! Before setting out on our journey into the wilderness of New Zealand, which I had horribly mistaken to be a peaceful district, though, there was something important to take care of. Something really vital: Find some food! Due to lack of mammoths in Adlershof we looted the local Kaufland and it was at this insuspicious location that the foundations for a grim murder were set: (dramatic pause) We decided to not only buy something to eat for ourselves but also buy a carrot to make the snowman! Or wait, hey, why not make two of them? Two carrots, some ketchup, bread and cheese were duly bought and we marched back through the snow to Jubs car - not suspecting what had just begun...

Driving through the dark forests around Müggelheim, I began to feel uncomfortable, like a warning which I unwisely ignored, a foreboding of what was become of our innocent journey... We arrived in Erkner and all seemed well, but I guess it was not so. Had we only known before, that soon... but I wanted to relate our story in due order. We drove along the icy streets of New Zealand finding Ahornallee without many difficulties and started discussing the possibilities of a speed racer (30km/h) geohash - maybe if the streets had been cleared from the snow, all would have been different in the end, but it should not be, maybe then we would have settled for this one achievement and not attempted the other... However, the weather had decided for us, no speed racer was possible and it seemed nature really pushed us towards the obvious: Right at the hashpoint there was a huge pile of snow, almost cheerfully calling out to us: "Hey, what about a little innocent snowman building? One... or two?" And I have to admit: We were deceived, we did not notice any signs of warning and neither did Hessophanes who joined us at the snow pile and so we three started to build two cheerful snowmen, side by side. One was smaller than the other, and not quite as well proportioned, and maybe it was our mistake not to the loving, affectionate makers that this snowman would have needed at the dawn of his existence. Anyway, it happened. We didn't know, we really didn't know. I wish I could be undone, but there is nothing I can do but tell you the truth.

We had just finished building the snowmen and then turned away for a moment, just a fleeting second it seemed, and when we refocused our attention on the two snow creatures, the scene had changed dramatically:

I do not know why or even how, but the small snowman hat just wickedly killed the other behind our backs. I cannot find any words to describe the tragedy and looking at the small snowman I was shocked to see the now malicious look on his face and his victim lying beside him, having still enjoyed its snowman life only moments ago...

Sad and confused we left the scene of this murder, may it rest in peace (and snow)!

  • I have witnessed a horrible scene. Will report in with photographic evidence in eta 30 minutes. -- relet @52.316497,13.638521 21:05, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
  • I am still not sure what has happened here. All I can be certain of, is that it was gory. And that the New Zealand Connection must have got something to do with that. I think I have to hand this case over to my colleagues in New Zealand to resolve the mystery.
