2014
Sunday, Jan 5
I'm back in town and will try to get this one on Vashon Island, time permitting. Time very well might not be permitting though... -- OtherJack (talk) 01:33, 5 January 2014 (EST)
- ...and indeed it was not. Still hope to get back to Seattle area geohashing soon though! -- OtherJack (talk) 05:25, 6 January 2014 (EST)
Sunday Jan 19
A Southcenter Mall parking lot. Sure would be easy to achieve. Same day as the Seahawks, so something late morning or mid-day would be best. --Thomcat (talk) 09:26, 18 January 2014 (EST)
Thursday Jan 23
About a zillion people will unknowingly get today's, since it's in a busy traffic lane of Bellevue Way in downtown Bellevue. I won't be one of them though, unfortunately... -- OtherJack (talk) 15:05, 23 January 2014 (EST)
- Me neither - non-geohashing friends from out of town. May this weekends be just as easy! --Thomcat (talk) 23:22, 23 January 2014 (EST)
Jan 24-26
Friday's spot is in a parking lot near Microsoft. Saturday is in the playground at Pinehurst school - easy to achieve, and you'll see me there at 4pm. Sunday is on the JBLM and out-of-bounds for most of us. --Thomcat (talk) 09:39, 24 January 2014 (EST)
As will I, and there's a small chance I'll try for Sunday's one graticule north (Whidbey Island) by bike... but I might do a non-geohashing-related hike instead that day... -- OtherJack (talk) 13:47, 24 January 2014 (EST)
Feb 1-2
A few interesting spots this weekend:
Saturday in this graticule is a road in what looks like a clear-cut or burn area (?) on the Olympic Peninsula, would be a pretty ambitious bike ride though. One graticule east it's at the shore of a lake just off the driveway into Boy Scout Camp Pigott, again a long way away from here (for me at least.) I may do some biking closer to home instead, but could be interested in geohashing, especially if I got a lift.
- Jefferson county is a plus. If this point were 3.3 miles west (in the sliver of Clallam County at the NW corner of our graticule) I would go for sure. Not sure what else I have planned for Saturday. --Thomcat (talk) 19:27, 31 January 2014 (EST)
- OK cool, I'll stay tuned then. Also, just realized that the brown color on the satellite picture probably just means it's a deciduous forest, not evergreen (and that the picture was taken in winter...) so probably not a burn or clear-cut after all. -- OtherJack (talk) 19:39, 31 January 2014 (EST)
- Bing birds eye shows a *lot* of green trees. Maybe we should head to 46,-121 instead - geohashing in the foothills of Mount Seattle Seahawks... --Thomcat (talk) 01:36, 1 February 2014 (EST)
- That one will probably be snowed in, not to mention really far from a road. Anyway, by default I'm not going for anything Saturday but if you end up going for one of them send me a line... -- OtherJack (talk) 04:40, 1 February 2014 (EST)
- and also even in the bing birdseye image you can see that the Seattle graticule point is right by a road. -- OtherJack (talk) 04:44, 1 February 2014 (EST)
- Bing birds eye shows a *lot* of green trees. Maybe we should head to 46,-121 instead - geohashing in the foothills of Mount Seattle Seahawks... --Thomcat (talk) 01:36, 1 February 2014 (EST)
Sunday, on the other hand, is much closer (a wooded lot off Woodinville-Duvall Road) but I'd have to do it pretty early to get back to my friends' house in Seattle in time for the 3:30 Super Bowl kickoff. Thinking about it though! -- OtherJack (talk) 15:49, 31 January 2014 (EST)
- Also thinking about it - noon or thereabouts.
Feb 8-9
Saturday is a Maury Island forest. Bit cold for a bike hash (and I'd have to start at 12:30 due to other obligations...) and the local bus route doesn't run on weekends. So probably not happening for me. Sunday, on the other hand, is someone's backyard in Bryn Mawr above the lake, and it will be warmer (though possibly starting to rain.) And quite close to a bus route in case of said rain. So might try to go for the ambassador achievement... will keep an eye on the weather... -- OtherJack (talk) 03:13, 8 February 2014 (EST)
- After a little research the name of the neighborhood for Sunday's seems to be Lakeridge, not Bryn Mawr (which is a bit further south.) -- OtherJack (talk) 03:20, 8 February 2014 (EST)
- Planning for ambassador also? The back yard had me making other plans; and now that there's snow (something most Seattle drivers can't handle) I think I am safer at home. --Thomcat (talk) 01:15, 9 February 2014 (EST)
Feb 12
Near as I can tell, it's in the back yard of 5517 37th Ave NE. Here is the link from Zillow if that helps any. Worth a drive-by at lunch, I think. --Thomcat (talk) 10:20, 12 February 2014 (EST)
- When are you thinking? If the timing's convenient I might try to meet you - it's reasonably close to work for me. -- OtherJack (talk) 14:11, 12 February 2014 (EST)
Feb 14-17
Forest, forest, forest, and a front porch greet our holiday weekend. Have you considered a Saturday in Sequim? --Thomcat (talk) 09:39, 14 February 2014 (EST)
- Or a Saturday outside of Marysville - looks like someone's backyard again. I have to be in Seattle in the afternoon that day so I probably won't be hashing at all, at least by bike... and Monday I'll probably go to work. -- OtherJack (talk) 13:31, 14 February 2014 (EST)
Feb 21-24
Tonight's in an alley on Pill Hill, super easy... see the expedition page! Two south Kitsap hashes over the weekend - Saturday on a road and Sunday in a back yard. Might try for one of these depending on weather and timing... -- OtherJack (talk) 13:29, 21 February 2014 (EST)
- Out of town, but you knew that. Did you hit the Friday point? --Thomcat (talk) 15:29, 22 February 2014 (EST)
Mar 12
Someones back yard - looks reachable to me. Pity I am 382 kilometers east of the spot. --Thomcat (talk) 10:23, 12 March 2014 (EDT)
- I'll be finishing up at work around 6 or 6:30, so if lighting looks sufficient I might try it after work. Less excited than yesterday about before work though, since it's not nearly as convenient from my location... -- OtherJack (talk) 13:47, 12 March 2014 (EDT)
Saturday Mar 15
is on a large (institutional?) property on Vashon Island. I think I may do something else that day closer to home, but could be convinced to go for it. Sunday is forecast to be quite wet unfortunately... the point is really cool, in a public-looking wooded area on the shore of Lake Tapps down by Auburn... -- OtherJack (talk) 14:35, 14 March 2014 (EDT)
Mar 29-30
Saturday is in the waters of the Sound, but Sunday is in a road in a Bothell office park. Very doable! If the weather's good I'll probably bike it. Time TBA - suggestions welcome but I may not end up being able to honor them... -- OtherJack (talk) 04:41, 29 March 2014 (EDT)
- Yes, looks achievable. I am supposed to "get the dogs out of the house" mid-day, so roughly 11:30 for us. --Thomcat (talk) 09:48, 30 March 2014 (EDT)
April 19-20
Saturday's point looks quite interesting, by railroad tracks north of Bremerton - but the afternoon is forecast to be wet. Might be open to going in the morning though. (Sunday's is in the Sound.) -- OtherJack (talk) 13:50, 17 April 2014 (EDT)
April 26-27
Saturday's is in a swamp (is that right?) behind someone's house in Sammamish. On Sunday the next graticule north looks a little closer, and is in someone's front yard up in Tulalip. Neither very ideal... -- OtherJack (talk) 13:49, 25 April 2014 (EDT)
April 30
A clearcut on the peninsula ends the month for Seattle. There were too many inaccessible spots this month for me - looking forward to May! --Thomcat (talk) 09:36, 30 April 2014 (EDT)
- Same! And the one good accessible weekend spot (Saturday before last) was completely rained out... -- OtherJack (talk) 12:06, 30 April 2014 (EDT)
May 3-4
Well, May has brought us two quite interesting weekend locations... but there are some problems with each.
Saturday's appears to be about halfway down the steep coastal bluff of Mukilteo. Whether it is too steep for me to bushwhack I'm not sure... if I'm really bored I may head up there, try to get permission from the nearby property owner to pass through, and attempt it. But I may just look for more sane activities closer to home.
Sunday's one graticule east looks much less scary - a 250m relatively flat traverse from a well-maintained hiking trail in the woods northeast of Issaquah - but the forecast is for lots of wet showers. If the forecast improves this would be a good candidate for a bike -> hike -> bushwhack hash... -- OtherJack (talk) 14:30, 2 May 2014 (EDT)
May 10-11
Sunday's is solidly in the water, but Saturday's looks to be right in the tidal strip on the east shore of the Kitsap Peninsula (facing Vashon Island), probably a very scenic spot, and perhaps accessible by walking up the beach from a nearby park. However, the lowest tide in that area on 2014-05-10 looks to be around at 9:30 in the morning http://tides.mobilegeographics.com/locations/2152.html which would mean an extremely early wakeup if I were to bike/ferry there. So I'm inclined not to go... -- OtherJack (talk) 14:49, 9 May 2014 (EDT)
- Agreed - we would probably need a negative tide to reach that one. --Thomcat (talk) 11:35, 10 May 2014 (EDT)
May 17-18
Finally some good spots! Saturday's is next to a driveway? near Juanita, looks accessible. Outside the neighboring property fence clearly. Sunday's is in the street between Edgewood and Puyallup down south. My schedule for the weekend is still in flux though, so not sure whether I'll attempt either/both/neither yet. Feel free to post/make your own plans... -- OtherJack (talk) 14:55, 16 May 2014 (EDT)
- My plans are also in flux, though Saturday is unlikely. Today's point looks decent also... --Thomcat (talk) 16:02, 16 May 2014 (EDT)
Geohashing Day
Bothell - likely accessible. I'm a gonna be there! --Thomcat (talk) 10:14, 21 May 2014 (EDT)
- Nice, I'll be at work and such at the U. Like last year, I didn't even realize today was geohashing day ...-- OtherJack (talk) 12:27, 21 May 2014 (EDT)
May 23-26
Friday is in Redmond (Overlake, just west of Lake Sammammish). Saturday (Mouseover) and Sunday (Towel) are in the woods. Monday you may need a towel - it's a container loading facility at the Port of Tacoma - likely no public access. --Thomcat (talk) 09:41, 23 May 2014 (EDT)
- Won't be able to go for any of these, since I'm about to catch a flight back east for the next couple of weeks... family stuff, weddings, etc. Hopefully a couple hashpoints too! -- OtherJack (talk) 12:12, 23 May 2014 (EDT)
May 28
Lunch at Burgermaster? The geohash point is just around the corner. Bus or toll bridge? --Thomcat (talk) 09:45, 28 May 2014 (EDT)
Sunday, June 29
... looks like a really interesting location in the Port of Seattle, on Harbor Island, and sure looks to be publicly accessible! It's in a named roadway (11th Ave SW.) Anyone up for checking it out? I'll say 4pm by default, but if you prefer another time, that's cool too. (Saturday's by contrast is inside a warehouse in Kent, and it's supposed to be wet that day anyhow...) -- OtherJack (talk) 15:17, 27 June 2014 (EDT)
- anyway, I have now made an expedition page for it... -- OtherJack (talk) 15:21, 28 June 2014 (EDT)
Thursday, July 10
the globalhash is in the Vancouver graticule! See here or Eupeodes. However it seems to be in an extremely remote, roadless (and possibly trackless) area in the mountains well NW of the city. Even Wikipedia describes the globalhash's nearby lake and river as "remote"... oh well... -- OtherJack (talk) 14:12, 9 July 2014 (EDT)
Don't give up! See my note on the Vancouver page. There is a local private airplane company very close by which lets you fly the plane once it's in the air! It may be nearly inaccessible by foot, but think of the first aerial globalhash! -Srs0 (talk) 16:21, 9 July 2014 (EDT)
- (Discussion of this has moved to Talk:Vancouver, British Columbia...) -- OtherJack (talk) 18:06, 9 July 2014 (EDT)
2013
Jan 5-6, 2013
Saturday looks rainy with relatively inaccessible points in both Seattle (Olympic Peninsula beach) and Snoqualmie (Cascade foothill forest), though the latter might be doable in theory with bus->mountain bike->bushwack. Sunday looks less rainy and the Seattle point is in someone's back yard in Shorewood. Will probably try to go for the ambassador achievement there... -- OtherJack 16:23, 4 January 2013 (EST)
Sunday, Jan 20, 2013
is in a wooded lot near Covington. I might try for it depending on other plans. Monday (MLK day) is on the base here, but in a scenic-looking Whidbey Island location one graticule north. (Fri-Sat are both in the water.) -- OtherJack 18:27, 18 January 2013 (EST)
- Outside of Covington (160th is the line) - probably Lake Morton-Berrydale, or possibly unincorporated King County. Here's the property on Zillow - sold just 6 months ago. [1]. Good luck! --Thomcat 11:18, 19 January 2013 (EST)
- Ended up seeing a play on Sunday afternoon, and doing some home improvement Monday... so no stories, sorry. I'll continue to be on the lookout as usual. -- OtherJack 00:53, 23 January 2013 (EST)
Monday, Jan 28 2013
Too bad today's wasn't on a nice day in summer! -- OtherJack 23:30, 28 January 2013 (EST)
Feb 2-3, 2013
Nice weather finally. Saturday's one graticule east is in a field north of Enumclaw, reachable but it would be a haul. Sunday's in this graticule, however, is ON THE SAME LOT as my failure on 2010-06-12 47 -122. No more than 100 yards away. How weird is that? I'm strongly tempted to return, with jeans and a coat this time, and show those nettles who's boss. Will have to remember exactly where to find that trail though... -- OtherJack 16:11, 1 February 2013 (EST)
- After reading your expedition report... I'd rather watch the Superbowl. --Thomcat 16:03, 2 February 2013 (EST)
- I really don't think it would be that bad with jeans and a real shirt... if I remember right the trail continued in the direction of Sunday's hashpoint after passing near the original point. And I don't really care about this year's super bowl anyway... -- OtherJack 16:36, 2 February 2013 (EST)
- AND it's winter which makes the nettles less threatening... -- OtherJack 16:43, 2 February 2013 (EST)
- I really don't think it would be that bad with jeans and a real shirt... if I remember right the trail continued in the direction of Sunday's hashpoint after passing near the original point. And I don't really care about this year's super bowl anyway... -- OtherJack 16:36, 2 February 2013 (EST)
- Unfortunately there were just too many other things to do today. Still rode, but just to Alki. -- OtherJack 00:26, 4 February 2013 (EST)
Feb 23-24, 2013
Saturday's is in a train yard inside the Boeing factory near Everett! Anybody know someone who works there and could let geohashers in? Sunday's is just behind someone's back fence in south Bothell, and looks easily accessible - may go for it depending on weather / amount of energy... -- OtherJack 15:38, 22 February 2013 (EST)
- Concur that Sunday looks quite easy to do, but I will be en route to Nürnberg at that time. I wish the Seattle area geohashers luck for the rest of February - see you in March! --Thomcat 15:45, 22 February 2013 (EST)
- Cool - that looks to be near a lot of regular German geohashers, are you planning to try and meet some of them? Also, I think AeroIllini told me he worked at Boeing, so I'm going to send him a line... -- OtherJack 16:05, 22 February 2013 (EST)
- Indeed I do work for Boeing! I don't think I could get any visitor badges on a Saturday, but I could be the ambassador to the site. Anyone else with a Boeing badge is welcome to join me. I'll post an alternate meetup point on peeron that non-Boeing folks can get to (outside the gate). --AeroIllini (talk) 12:36, 23 February 2013 (EST)
- Sweet! What time of day are you thinking? -- OtherJack (talk) 12:43, 23 February 2013 (EST)
- We could do the standard 4pm meetup, but I'd be open to a noon meetup, too. Also, what happened to the alternate meetup location feature on peeron? It doesn't seem to be there anymore. In any case, the parking lot just south of the point is outside the gate, and accessible by non-Boeing folks. We would meet there, and then I (and any other Boeing folks with us) would drive around to the gate to get inside the fence and stand on the point. --AeroIllini (talk) 12:47, 23 February 2013 (EST)
- Sounds good either way, though if it's at noon a ride would be nice since I'd really have to hurry on a bike and the weather up there will probably still be rainy. Let me know when you decide on. I don't know what happened to the Peeron alternate thing either... -- OtherJack (talk) 12:58, 23 February 2013 (EST)
- Let's go for the noon. I can give you a ride, no problem. Just email me your address. --13:09, 23 February 2013 (EST)

May 15 2013
Inside the Roosevelt Reservoir, which isn't far from my home base. Was under construction, but almost certainly no public access. Might make an expedition to there (and Spud!) at lunchtime to test the theory. --Thomcat (talk) 09:50, 15 May 2013 (EDT)
- Definitely no public access... I know since that's my old neighborhood. Have fun at Spud though! -- OtherJack (talk) 14:16, 15 May 2013 (EDT)
June 1-2 2013
Saturday's is on someone's front lawn in north Bellevue... I'll probably try to make it at 4. Sunday's is in woods, possibly private property near the submarine base on the Kitsap... harder but also potentially doable. -- OtherJack (talk) 12:06, 31 May 2013 (EDT)
June 7-8
Two very achievable points for our weekend - Friday is just off a power-line access space on the Sammammish plateau; Saturday is on a fairway on the [North Shore Golf Course] in Tacoma. --Thomcat (talk) 10:01, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- Initial course research indicates this is the 8th hole. --Thomcat (talk) 10:01, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
- I don't play golf so not exactly suited to me... not sure what the prospects are for just sneaking onto the course. And today I've got work / plans so can't get to Sammamish... -- OtherJack (talk) 14:47, 7 June 2013 (EDT)
June 16
I might try to go for Sunday's on a vacant lot in White Center by bicycle around 4pm, followed by a visit to Zippy's Burgers which I've heard about but never investigated. I'll post to the Seattle main page if I'm actually going... -- OtherJack (talk) 23:23, 15 June 2013 (EDT)
- I have to work three baseball games - noon, 2:30 and 5 - so it is unlikely I will be able to attend. --Thomcat (talk) 10:05, 16 June 2013 (EDT)

Saturday's is in the water, but Sunday's is in some woods in south Des Moines or north Federal Way. Might be private/fenced off, it's a little hard to tell. I'm thinking about going for it... probably 4pm if I do... -- OtherJack (talk) 13:57, 12 July 2013 (EDT)
- Going for it. Will leave on the bus at 3:35 so probably won't get down there until well after 5pm. -- OtherJack (talk) 18:12, 14 July 2013 (EDT)
Aug 2-4
Two islands for our weekend, Friday and Sunday - the latter the more achievable, as it is quite near the bike trail. Saturday is on a street in the Broadview neighborhood, quite close to my house really. I'll be there at 4, and before that I'll be umpiring a men's league baseball game at Lower Woodland Park[2] from 12:30 to 3:00, if anyone wants to stop by. --Thomcat (talk) 09:48, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
- Wish I could come to one or both of these, but I'm in 51,-0 this weekend, and traveling in Europe for the next month! I'm seriously looking at Sunday's here though... it's not that far from a tube station. -- OtherJack (talk) 17:49, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
- Jealous - never been! Have a blast while there, and hopefully you can nab one of those both sides of the meridian hashes. --Thomcat (talk) 18:32, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
- Alas nothing this weekend or Monday looks close enough to the meridian to be practical (I don't have access to a car here either.) I might still go to the Greenwich maritime museum that marks said meridian though... that would be still be a very cool activity for a geohasher... -- OtherJack (talk) 04:22, 3 August 2013 (EDT)
- Jealous - never been! Have a blast while there, and hopefully you can nab one of those both sides of the meridian hashes. --Thomcat (talk) 18:32, 2 August 2013 (EDT)
Sept 7, 2013
It's inside a Rite-Aid! In Tacoma, across from the community college. I'm thinking about going... anyone else? Sunday's is on someone's land in the woods out 522, would be harder. -- OtherJack (talk) 12:34, 6 September 2013 (EDT)
Sept 28-29, 2013
Both Saturday and Sunday are quite accessible (on road shoulders or parkway strips) and close by! Saturday on Bainbridge Island and Sunday in Mountlake Terrace. Forecast looks wet though. So by default Saturday will only happen for me if there's a bikeable break in the weather (unless I can get a ride). Sunday's has a bus route close by, so will probably go for it regardless of weather, unless it's really coming down hard... -- OtherJack (talk) 15:56, 27 September 2013 (EDT)
- I don't think I'll make it to Bainbridge on Saturday, but Sunday's point would be doable for me. Do we want to meet at 4pm? - AeroIllini (talk) 16:29, 27 September 2013 (EDT)
- In other news -- the rain looks like it may end in a few hours, so there is still hope for my bike/ferry hash today... -- OtherJack (talk) 15:52, 28 September 2013 (EDT)
Oct 4-6, 2013
No data yet, but hoping for the geohash to land in Lacey, WA - specifically 4016 Stikes Dr SE. --Thomcat (talk) 14:10, 3 October 2013 (EDT)
- Your odds of the point landing within the city limits of Lacey are about 0.5% each day. Better than the lottery! - AeroIllini (talk) 16:15, 3 October 2013 (EDT)
- I've even done it myself... 2010-08-21 47 -122 -- OtherJack (talk) 16:30, 3 October 2013 (EDT)
Well, I didn't get my Lacey (underwear). The weekend points are Water, Water and a front yard in Auburn. That third one looks achievable, but I will pass on the other two. Besides, I am headed to 47, -120 (about 15 miles east of today's point actually) for the weekend. Auf Wiedersehen! --Thomcat (talk) 10:25, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
- If you haven't got your 47,-121 yet, today's point there is a driveway in Duthie Hill, just NE of Issaquah. --Thomcat (talk) 10:39, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
- I might consider Sunday's. Saturday's would be a nice kayak trip but the nearby rental places appear to be closed for the winter already... -- OtherJack (talk) 13:00, 4 October 2013 (EDT)
Oct 11-13
All three days are the back yards of private property. The fact that Sunday is near the edge could be useful for one minesweeping the neighboring graticules, but even those look sketchy - lots of forest. --Thomcat (talk) 10:19, 11 October 2013 (EDT)
Sat. Oct 19
potentially looks like a nice bike/ferry/bushwack hash. If I have time to do it I'll arrive midday probably, not 4pm, due to other plans in the evening... -- OtherJack (talk) 12:17, 18 October 2013 (EDT)
Wed Oct 30
Going over to Port Orchard to watch World Series Game 6; hoping for a geohash nearby :) --Thomcat (talk) 18:27, 29 October 2013 (EDT)
- And alas, it is not to be. Today's point looks to be a private forest near Woodinville. --Thomcat (talk) 09:55, 30 October 2013 (EDT)
Nov 1-3
Today's and Sunday's points are both very doable: today's is in a front yard in Auburn and Sunday's is under an awning just off Airport Way in SODO. Saturday's is on Naval Base Kitsap, which requires escort by someone with a military ID. I will definitely be at the Sunday point, since it's very close to my home. -- AeroIllini (talk) 12:12, 1 November 2013 (EDT)

Nov 15-17
Friday and Sunday are achievable in the Snoqualmie graticule; Saturday is a front yard in Bridle Trails, aka the Bellevue/Redmond area. Anyone? --Thomcat (talk) 09:55, 15 November 2013 (EST)
- I'll probably go for Saturday's, but not sure when yet... I'll see if I can coordinate. Sunday's in Snoqualmie grat would be more of a haul but if it's nice out (a big if, according to the forecast) it would be a cool bike day-trip. -- OtherJack (talk) 14:57, 15 November 2013 (EST)
Nov 23-24
Saturday's in the water, but Sunday is another Eastside front lawn... this time in north Redmond. Weather looks perfect for a bike hash... I'll probably do it relatively early in the day (noon?) due to obligations back in Seattle later in the day. Will make an expedition page once I'm more sure it'll work out. -- OtherJack (talk) 13:00, 22 November 2013 (EST)
- Back from Wisconsin (no geohash unfortunately) and should be able to make a Sunday meetup. --Thomcat (talk) 18:35, 22 November 2013 (EST)
Nov 29 - Dec 1
Saturday is in the water again and Sunday is predicted to be rainy and miserable, but today's looks like a front lawn in Suquamish, quite close to our previous success in that town. I may try to bike it soon (and even get a Tron!) -- OtherJack (talk) 16:02, 29 November 2013 (EST)
- Sunday may be very bad weather. National Weather Service has put out a Flood Watch --- Nasty Weather -- Basil (talk) 21:05, 29 November 2013 (EST)
Dec 13-15
Water, water, and a Dupont woods near water. Stay dry, geohashers! --Thomcat (talk) 09:42, 13 December 2013 (EST)
Dec 29
Sunday's globalhash is within striking distance of you guys (and Vancouver!) Too bad it's winter and the point is up at 950 m, probably buried in snow... -- OtherJack (talk) 12:27, 27 December 2013 (EST)
2012
January 28
Snow conditions and time permitting I'm going to try the hash over in the Snoqualmie graticule just east of us, on Tiger Mountain. See here for more info. If I actually attempt to do this I'll probably make it up there around 4:30 or 5 pm. --OtherJack
February 11
Green Lake geohash!!!! And it's a Saturday to boot. I am going to see if the park rents those paddleboats or other boats this time of year. Or, if you have a boat, please feel free to join this thread! --OtherJack
Never mind, boat rentals are off for the winter, but will still try to wade / hope for other geohashers with boat... --OtherJack 11:28am Friday (PST)
I'll try to do these things at 4pm, just to clarify. --OtherJack 11:44am Saturday (PST)
February 20
I'm going to try this one - see the page for details. Times/plans are very flexible. --OtherJack 9pm Sunday (Pacific)
March 17
I may try a St. Paddy's Day hash in Lake Stevens at 4pm - it's on what google maps satellite shows as a construction site, so might be a finished something by now. Not sure if I'll go though. Post here or on the page if you're interested --OtherJack 12:45pm Friday March 16
March 23-25
Friday's is out in a field somewhere that may-or-may-not-be thwarted by clear and obvious No Trespassing signs. We could probably gain easy access to Friday's in the daylight, but I'm not sure I'd risk getting shot at at night...which is a shame, because I'm sure there would be somewhere nice to camp around here too. It's about 250m from a road, right past obvious houses, but approaching from the northwest could work I guess (if you're a ninja).
Saturday's looks like it's along a not-quite-private road, which may or may not be in someone's back yard; Bing Maps has more hopeful roads than Google Maps, and it looks like they go around it rather helpfully. Google's map view shows a big, unoccupied looking land plat. This is reachable. It's also about 3km from Friday's.
Sunday's is a bit west of Bremerton, and looks like it has alligators, about 30m off "shore" if you could call it that. A small kayak should suffice.
Not sure I can make any of these though. --Traveller 13:37, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
I could go Saturday but wouldn't be able to leave Seattle til after 3. Today I'm working and Sunday I'm doing something else most of the day (and don't have a kayak or anything of the sort...) - OtherJack 14:07, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
Likewise on the busy-ness here. Friday = can't leave 'til 8:30PM, Saturday = need to be in Bellevue 9:30-11:00 so no camping (unless it's a super early morning), Sunday = need to be in Lynnwood at 3:00 onward. I'm up for Saturday if we're real excited about going, but it might be worth it to hold off for a later event on our side of the water.
Then again, if a west-side hasher wants to show up, I'm all for heading over there. --Traveller 14:27, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
I'm also kind of on the fence... don't really feel like driving there and i'd be leaving way too late for biking to be fun. If you drive there I might hitch a ride. I don't think there are any kitsap or olympic area hashers though unfortunately... - OtherJack 14:46, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
Alright, let's just organize a picnic on this side of the sound then! Got a preference for place or time? Either side of the lake works for me. --Traveller 15:05, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
Sure, why not - I'm going to be in downtown Seattle tomorrow afternoon anyway so we could just say 4pm somewhere near there. I'm not big on cheesecake but pie is great. (Not that you're required to bring it... I won't be able to bring anything that awesome.) OtherJack 15:30, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
April 26
Today it's on northbound I-5, after 599 but before Boeing Access Road / MLK, in the second-to-rightmost lane. Just a heads up if anyone was going to drive that way today. (I'm not unfortunately.) OtherJack 13:11, 26 April 2012 (EDT)
May 4-5
Today's (Fri) is in a front yard in Madrona, I'm going for it after work! See the page for more details. I'm up for either the Seattle or Snoqualmie graticule ones tomorrow (Sat). Leaning towards Snoqualmie, as I could bike there on quieter roads. OtherJack 13:26, 4 May 2012 (EDT)
All right, I'm definitely going for Snoqualmie tomorrow (Sat)...
Mouseover Day (Saturday, May 26)
The Snoqualmie graticule hashpoint looks best for me - I'll try to be there around 4pm. See the expedition page for planning etc. --OtherJack 12:21, 25 May 2012 (EDT)
Friday, June 1
Today's is in the left-turn lane of 169 a few miles east of Renton, if anyone was going to drive that way anyhow... --OtherJack 13:00, 1 June 2012 (EDT)
June 20
For the Longest Day, our geohash is in the woods. According to Zillow, it is this [3] property. Looking at the birds eye view, there are a lot of high trees. Anyone going? --Thomcat 11:46, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
- Long way to go on a weeknight for me, by default I wasn't going to. Is there a longest day ribbon or something? --OtherJack 14:18, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
- For me also. No ribbon - yet. --Thomcat 17:53, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
June 21
Oh, I wish I had a day off - this is at the top of Squak Mountain, and would be a fun (and challenging) expedition. --Thomcat 18:28, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
June 22-24
Unlike the normal Seattle geohash weekend (water, water, water) this weekend it's Woods, Woods, and Woods (the latter private property on Vashon Island). Proposed Saturday 4:00 meetup location - Math 'n' Stuff
- I could do that - I've never actually gone in there, even though it's only a half mile from my house. May still try to bike to the Sunday one and ask whoever's home, though. --OtherJack 13:10, 22 June 2012 (EDT)
June 29-July 1
We end June with the left side of the graticule, and that means island, water, and the edge of a lake on the peninsula. My alternate proposals are the Olympic Sculpture Park - special exhibit Encontro das Águas (Encounter with Waters); or the Heaven and Earth Exhibition at Carkeek Park. Got another suggestion? Post it here! --Thomcat 10:00, 29 June 2012 (EDT)
July 6-8
Friday night at the Best Buy in Silverdale, Saturday in the woods, and Sunday in the Cedar River. No Saturday alternate for me - I'll be working a baseball game at Husky Stadium in Seattle (not the one that's half torn down). 4:00 would be roughly the 3rd or 4th inning, if you want to drop by and say hi. --Thomcat 10:04, 6 July 2012 (EDT)
I'll be busy elsewhere on Saturday but I'm thinking of trying to hit that Best Buy tonight after work - it's not a very long ride from the Bremerton ferry dock... --OtherJack 12:55, 6 July 2012 (EDT)
July 13-15
Fairly close to Bremerton tonight (south of Beaver Dam lake); your Bastille day hash is near the northwest corner (just off the Beaver Valley road); Sunday is east of Shelton along the peninsula (which has an East Beaver Lane, though it's across the Hammersley inlet).
Saturday alternate location will be the Bastille Cafe in Ballard at 4:00 pm. Also going on this day is the Ballard Seafood Fest, so plenty of fun for all. --Thomcat 16:56, 13 July 2012 (EDT)
You don't think that cafe will be a little crowded on its namesake day? I could be convinced though. Also looking into trying to ride to Sunday's Snoqualmie hashpoint, in what looks like a dairy farm driveway just outside Enumclaw... -- OtherJack 17:55, 13 July 2012 (EDT)
July 20-22
Friday and Sunday are out on the peninsula - today is particularly wet. Regarding Saturday, in the far south end, take a look at the satellite photo. What is that thing just SW of the hashpoint? AG link None of the surrounding roads show up on the google or peeron map either. OSM thinks it's part of the airbase. --Thomcat 09:41, 20 July 2012 (EDT)
- Zillow and Bing maps confirm that it's part of the military base; google needs to get their maps up to snuff. Street view shows the roads leading to it as fenced also. My guess - a former military camp site - current zillow shows it to be a flat field. Another Saturday out of bounds! --Thomcat 10:45, 20 July 2012 (EDT)
Sunday's actually looks quite reachable, in a short driveway of some sort very close to Bremerton. Maybe I'll go - will post if I decide to. -- OtherJack 14:21, 20 July 2012 (EDT)
August 3-5
Saturday is in the drink and Sunday is on the base, so that leaves today's spot (next to a private lake just north of 12715 Old Snohomish Monroe Rd) or an alternate meetup on Saturday. Open to alternate suggestions here - just want to attend my 10th Saturday meetup. Anyone? --Thomcat 11:16, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
Saturday's Snoqualmie point looks interesting, in the mountains but only about 2 miles (crow flies) up a valley from a forest service road. I was thinking of going to look at some hiking maps to see if there's a trail up that valley (or do you know yourself whether there is?) If you're feeling less ambitious / have less time, we could meet at the spring in Licton Springs Park, 9536 Ashworth Ave N... I've always meant to check it out sometime... -- OtherJack 13:05, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
- Licton Springs is good, 4:00pm. We will be meeting here to try and find this feature. I'll add an expedition page later today. --Thomcat 16:36, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
- Sweet, I'll be there at 4. Also, good job using two different realizations of the word "geohash" at one go... -- OtherJack 16:56, 3 August 2012 (EDT)
August 16
Really easy meetup location today, in a street in Wallingford! Thomcat already went this morning but we will try to re-converge this afternoon or evening. See the page 2012-08-16 47 -122 for planning... -- OtherJack 12:51, 16 August 2012 (EDT)
- Was nice meeting you guys :) --P4r4digm 10:13, 17 August 2012 (EDT)

August 17-19
Friday is just off the coast of the peninsula - perhaps swimmable, if anyone is over there. Saturday is on the back porch of 4467 141st Ave SE Bellevue, and would require an ambassador to visit this rather nice home. 4pm anyone? What is that star-trek shaped house NW of this one?!? Sunday is towards the edge of a farmer's field just south of Flaming Geyser State Park, which isn't quite as cool as it sounds. --Thomcat 10:08, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
- I soooo want to try the beach one near silverdale but have to work and would run into the same issue of nightfall as I did on Whidbey :( Saturday's sounds fun and awesome! Who knows, maybe we convince the residents the start hashing and they get closer than anyone's ever gotten for the couch potato! I'll talk to the people who were interested of coming along saturday and try to figure out what time works for everyone. May skip on sunday just to chill :P --P4r4digm 10:12, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
- From my research (which may no longer be accurate) that Bellevue house is the property of a Richard Haase[1], a retired republican[2] whose wife, Marie, is an assistant librarian at Forest Ridge School[3]. Semi-elderly school librarian? I have a feeling they'd go for a cordial visit from the internet :) --P4r4digm 10:39, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
- I just created the meetup page 2012-08-18 47 -122 for Saturday's point. I plan on being there (I stated the standard 4:30 time, but I can be flexible). I would be more comfortable being Official Internet Ambassador to the good Mr. and Mrs. Haase if there were more people than just me present. Would it still count as a successful hash if we only made it to the street in front of the house? ---AeroIllini 14:57, 17 August 2012 (EDT)
- Awesome! I got 2 friends I'm dragging along and it sounds like Thomcat is on board as well. Suggestion for better chances of success: Wear semi nice clothes and be respectful! I think we'll plan to be there around 4 and hangout till everyone arrives. And there's an Applebee's not far from there over in Factoria if anyone wants to get dinner after :D -- P4r4digm 15:02, 17 August 2012 (EDT)

August 24-26
Friday is on a forested hillside on the peninsula; Sunday a backyard near Bonney Lake. Saturday is potentially reachable, and I have proposed an alternate location a mere 300m away, then we walk to the point for an attempt. Games this time? What say you all? --Thomcat 10:11, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- Unfortuantely team p4r4digm is out of the game this weekend. Prior engagement has me tied up through monday. Attain some epic spots for me! Hope your california trip was awesome :D - P4r4digm 12:51, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- I'll bike down on Saturday - shall we meet at the alternate at 4pm? Or when exactly? Can't stay for games though, as this will be a break from packing for a Sunday move! -- OtherJack 14:12, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- Sunday out for me also - leaving town. Meet at 4pm sharp sounds good, right by the softball field (as indicated on the alternate). --Thomcat 14:57, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- Sounds like a plan -- OtherJack 15:05, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- I'll do my best to be there at 4pm, but may have to end up going later depending on my schedule. I will, of course, bring games. --AeroIllini 15:09, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- I'm fine to reschedule to later, if you want to change it -- OtherJack 15:32, 24 August 2012 (EDT)

- Click on the peeron link (for Saturday) on the seattle page, it's the blue marker. I'll get around to making an expedition page sometime if one of you hasn't done it yet... -- OtherJack 20:49, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- Ahh, I see it, thanks. I usually go straight to Google Maps, so I didn't think to check Peeron. --AeroIllini 20:57, 24 August 2012 (EDT)
- Late cancel - can't make it today. --Thomcat 18:26, 25 August 2012 (EDT)

August 31, September 1-3 (Labor Day Weekend)
- Friday: In a backyard outside of Gig Harbor
- Saturday: In the middle of Elliot Bay
- Sunday: Deep in Forest Service territory south of Discovery Bay
- Monday: A residential road inside Lewis-McChord Joint Base
Does anybody have access to Lewis-McChord? Monday's point is right in the middle of the road, but it's beyond the guard shack. Military ID, Civilian contractor ID, or visitor's passes are required. --AeroIllini 14:28, 31 August 2012 (EDT)
September 7-9
Up a mountain on the peninsula, likely private property on the peninsula, or likely private property in Tacoma. Take your pick - none are particularly exciting. Saturday's geohash one graticule east is just south of Index and basically right on Highway 2, and two graticules south the geohash is just across the river from Battleground, near what looks like a Christmas Tree farm. I'm up for an alternate meetup if you've got some ideas. Cheers! --Thomcat 10:12, 7 September 2012 (EDT)
- Sunday's south of Tacoma is actually right on the fence line of a large apartment complex... that shouldn't be that hard! We could be anyone. And even if it's on the other side of the fence, that appears to be a driveway, not someone's backyard or anything. I think this is doable, and if I'm feeling up to it I'll bike down there, and take the 578 back. Time TBA/flexible... -- OtherJack 14:30, 7 September 2012 (EDT)
- Excellent idea, but I've got a pair of baseball games to run. Go get it, tiger! --Thomcat 10:04, 8 September 2012 (EDT)
September 14-16
Friday is south of Buckley, and Sunday is in the middle of Stickney Lake in Everett (though there is a boat launch). Saturday is down in Kent, and I am mounting an expedition -- 2012-09-15 47 -122 -- and then continuing south to a friends house for a strategy game night. Yee-haw! --Thomcat 09:42, 14 September 2012 (EDT)
- A great success, bringing the Graticule total to 90 coordinates reached out of 130 expeditions attempted. Just 10 more successes this year to bring our graticule to 100! --Thomcat 11:34, 16 September 2012 (EDT)
Sept 17
Surprisingly easy geohash spot today; I can and will meet anyone who would like to this afternoon, as I have a flexible schedule. --Thomcat 13:14, 17 September 2012 (EDT)
- At a retreat on San Juan Island for the next 24 hours or so, so I won't make it. Local hashpoints are all on the mainland or in the water today... -- OtherJack 15:13, 17 September 2012 (EDT)
Sept 19
I choose today *not* to drive to Bothell for work, and this happens. Ignore an accessible geohash in this graticule at your peril, I say, though I'm not sure when I could go. Taking time off work *does* seem to be a piratey thing to do though... --Thomcat 10:03, 19 September 2012 (EDT)
Sept 21-23
A happy Solstice to all! Friday is in the military base, Saturday on the peninsula, and Sunday in deep forest. We knew our luck couldn't hold out forever... --Thomcat 09:42, 21 September 2012 (EDT)
- Actually, Sunday's one graticule north, which is closer than "our" point, is smack in the middle of Lake Stevens (the lake). Earlier today I tried to see if anyone rented boats there, but the internet + calling a few people made it clear that they don't. Oh well. I also could have biked to today's (Sat) but decided to stay home and do other stuff. -- OtherJack 02:41, 23 September 2012 (EDT)
Sept 28-30
Finishing the month out, today's hashpoint is reachable in Puyallup's South Hill. Saturday is in the forest and Sunday on the peninsula. Saturday alternate meetup proposal - Bite of Broadview 4pm.
- Why not - I'll see you there, unless I say otherwise later. Sunday looks like it would be an interesting ride, and potentially reachable, but a late Saturday night means I may not be up for it... -- OtherJack 14:45, 28 September 2012 (EDT)
Oct 5-7
Weekend hashpoints are in the woods, the forest, and the S'Klallam tribal forest - none I plan to strive for. Next weekend I will be headed to Oktoberfest in Leavenworth, and hopefully a nearby geohash or two. --Thomcat 09:59, 5 October 2012 (EDT)
Oct 12-14
Early hoping - committing my thoughts to electrons. Friday or Saturday should be either at the Evergreen State College or somewhere between Buckley and Bonney Lake. Sunday's hash point should clearly be on NE Pinewood Drive in East Bremerton. Regardless of where they are, it's time for a Seattle Rain Geohash this weekend. --Thomcat 14:54, 11 October 2012 (EDT)
- Okay, here's what we actually got. A "birds eye" from the East shows Friday's point to be on the shore of a pond south of Pacific Lutheran. Saturday is near the top of a ridge on the Olympic Peninsula, and neighboring graticules also look inaccessible. Sunday is likely on private property in Skyway. --Thomcat 09:55, 12 October 2012 (EDT)
- I thought about trying to ambassador the Skyway one today, but ended up being productive at home instead. Next weekend maybe... -- OtherJack 23:53, 14 October 2012 (EDT)
Oct 20-21
Two Pierce County hashpoints - Saturday in some woods at the end of a cul de sac in Steilacoom, and Sunday inside someone's house south of Tacoma near Route 7. I could potentially do either... Saturday relatively late, around 6pm or later, but much more flexible time wise on Sunday. Post if you're interested in either... -- OtherJack 15:34, 19 October 2012 (EDT)
Oct 26-28
Friday is almost certainly in the back corner of the property at 3404 26th Pl in Puyallup. Saturday is the front of a house in Poulsbo, Sunday a property near Poulsbo - perhaps an outbuilding? Hard to say from the satellite photo. I'll be driving by the house in Puyallup tonight on my way to a buddy's house on South Hill. --Thomcat 09:43, 26 October 2012 (EDT)

100th Success
GECO has us at 98 expedition successes (131 expeditions). NWoodruff and the Most active graticules page has us at 99 expedition successes (143 expeditions), which I believe to be accurate (pending recount). So our next Seattle graticule expedition could be our 100th success - who's in? --Thomcat 11:59, 18 December 2012 (EST)
- In principle! Depends on where/when of course. -- OtherJack 15:25, 18 December 2012 (EST)
- I knew OtherJack was in - I don't suppose you'd be interested in auditing the Seattle Expeditions? I think the missing
AprilMarch 15th expedition is the difference between GECO and Most Active. --Thomcat 17:48, 18 December 2012 (EST)
- I knew OtherJack was in - I don't suppose you'd be interested in auditing the Seattle Expeditions? I think the missing
- Anyone else interested in a 100th geohash? Special end-of-the-world coordinates available on Friday, which covers the weekend in case of Mayan failure. --Thomcat 19:28, 18 December 2012 (EST)
- Recount complete, hanging chad suitably thumped. Had a few photos to upload, and still have a few more, but wanted to get this report out. I checked 157 expeditions and found that the Seattle graticule has 100 successes, failed to reach the coordinates 35 times, planned 11 more expeditions, and explored alternate meetups 9 times. GECO is a little off, and it will take more work to track down how. --Thomcat 16:49, 19 December 2012 (EST)
- Congrats to all of you on your level of activity and success! Thanks for holding up the Pacific Northwest banner when Vancouver and we are falling down on the job. Jiml 12:03, 22 December 2012 (EST)
- Vancouver more so than you guys, I'd have to say -- what happened to them? -- OtherJack 16:04, 22 December 2012 (EST)
Dec 21-23
Peninsular Backyard, Peninsular Forest, and Puget Sound (on the way to the Peninsula). Saturday's edge status will make it easy to geohash one graticule east (appears to be a power lines right-of-way) or south (a triangular field between the freeway and the north-south rail corridor). Happy Holidays! --Thomcat 09:51, 21 December 2012 (EST)
- If the weather's looking OK I might try to bike to Saturday-one-graticule-east. Forecast is showery so it doesn't look great as of now though... -- OtherJack 16:52, 21 December 2012 (EST)
Dec 24-25
Peninsular Forest and the edge of the military base - might be outside, but might be inside; a fence is visible in the aerial photo. Merry Christmas geohashers! --Thomcat 10:46, 24 December 2012 (EST)

January 22
A great spot for a water acheivement. Were it not January I'd bring my Hobie out there, but it is and I'd rather be inside. Anyone up for planned-location meetup one of these days? Jack 02:18, 22 January 2011 (EST)
January 27
Some of us might get this one by accident. It's right on I-405 Northbound, left lanes, by exit 22 (a little south of the 522 interchange). --Traveller 16:48, 27 January 2011 (EST)
February 5
Again in the water, south of Magnolia. If multiple other people are interested, I'll go for meeting at the nearest point on the shore. Jack 09:59, 4 February 2011 (EST)
- Or maybe at the park on the bluff; I'm not sure if that beach is accessible. The tide won't be that high but will be rising. Jack 10:07, 4 February 2011 (EST)
May 27
This Saturday (tomorrow) is in Kirkland, which is almost Seattle. Any interest? Jack 21:32, 27 May 2011 (EDT)
2010
January 5
Middle of Lake Washington. Considering a kayak rental from Agua Verde. Drowned rat would probably apply also - a misty rain has been falling all morning.
March 20, 2010
It's right near downtown. It's been a long time since I've gone to one; anyone else interested? Jack 20:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Meetup on March 23
I'll be in town on March 23rd and wouldn't mind trying a geohash or designated alternate in the morning. Is there anybody in the graticule interested in meeting up? - Elbie 22:05, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Meetup on April 24
I think we finally have a more centalized location! We should see if we can manage an xkcd-style (4:00 PM Saturday) meetup this weekend. I'm in if anyone else wants to do an expedition. Is anyone interested? Origo 22:14, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
Meetup on May 1, 2010
I'm going to try and be there at 4pm... don't know if I can make it all the way to the waterfront without property issues... hopefully it'll work! Hope to see someone there. It's on a bay in the south Kitsap just across the Narrows Bridge from Tacoma. - OtherJack 1:33 am Pacific, May 1, 2010
Meetup on May 8, 2010
I intend to be there at 4pm... looks like a pleasant drive! Hope to see folks. - OtherJack 12:40pm Pacific, Friday May 7, 2010
Meetup on Saturday, May 22, 2010
It looks like an interesting location to try and reach tomorrow... in the woods off of a high-tension corridor in south Kitsap. I'm going to try to ferry/bike there. - OtherJack 10:50pm Pacific, Friday, May 21, 2010
June 5
I think I might be able to attend a meetup on Saturday... looks like it's near some shipping warehouses, next to a road. -Origo
I'll try to be there too... it looks like it'll be a lot nicer out than today, great for biking. I have a ton of work to do though... so I'll go if I've gotten enough done. Which would be great. -OtherJack
June 26
Never mind, the US World Cup game's today. Not enough time afterwards. -OtherJack
August 3rd Globalhash in Ocean Shores
Not that I can make it, but I thought if any of you watching this page might consider a trip to the coast to reach a Globalhash, check out Talk:Ocean Shores, Washington#2010-08-03 Globalhash. --Wenslayer 16:43, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
August 21, 2010
It's right in the middle of the street in Lacey, very close to the Olympia/Lacey train station... so perfect excuse for me to visit Olympia. I will try to be at the hashpoint at 4, though it might be 5-10 minutes earlier... wait, make that 15-20 minutes earlier... say, 3:40 or 3:45. OtherJack
August 28, 2010
This week it's on someone's front lawn? or maybe just in front of their front fence? in Parkland, near PLU south of Tacoma. I plan on biking there and being there at 4pm. -OtherJack
2009
January 16-19
Welcome to the holiday weekend! Saturday's geohash is nice and dry, near Green River Community College. I'll be there at 4:00, assuming I can tear myself away from ConQuest NW. If you come down to the convention, I'll be around the Flying Buffalo booth, helping run a Lost Worlds game. Otherwise, see you at the geohash! --Thomcat 14:43, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
January 23-25
A steep forested hillside, Puget Sound, and restricted Fort Lewis. Not a good weekend. Mark your calendars for the 31st, though - I feel in my bones that good coordinates will bless us with a great meetup spot. --Thomcat 14:48, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
January 30-February 1
Friday on South Vashon is the best of the lot. Saturday is on the wet side of downtown Everett, and Sunday is near McCord - or is it restricted property? --Thomcat 15:14, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
February 6-8
Friday is a bus lane on I-405. No way I could make it at 4:00, but I'd like to find public transport to take me through there earlier in the day. Saturday is (again) in the water just off Everett. Sunday looks to be in woods behind a rather large mansion. Will research. --Thomcat 14:45, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Friday, if the southbound bus is on time, you will be at the stop at 4:01pm. Perhaps passing through the hash point at 4:00 precisely? The last earlier option goes through there in about 35 minutes. --Thomcat 15:03, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sunday is definitely private property, namely the estate of this huge house (thanks Zillow). For an estimated $880,500 you could have a couch-potato geohash.
February 13-16
Holiday weekend, how's your hash?
Friday and Saturday are Woodinville and Bothell, and both close to Thomcat's work. Sunday it's a hillside in Gig Harbor, and Monday Bainbridge island (in Island Center park). Only Sunday looks truly difficult. Time to research Friday and Saturday. --Thomcat 15:14, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
February 27-March 01
February 27 location in the Mt. Rainier graticule is too close to pass up on a beautiful day like this, especially since I haven't been to Mount Rainier National Park and it's a virgin graticule. I'll be driving, probably leaving home around 10:00 and arriving NLT 11:00 depending on how badly I get lost. February 28 location is about two miles from my home, so I'll probably walk (I hope the weather isn't too bad) and will arrange to be there at 4:00 PM. March 01 is no good for me. New User (talk) 14:56, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
March 6-8
Thanks to New User for filling in while I was off the continent. Another geohasher I need to meet, although today's Whidbey Island hash won't be it. Just south of us the hash is just south of Fort Lewis in a decidedly bare looking patch of land. Saturday is just SE of that for both graticules - a water hash for Seattle. Sunday is in Hood Canal. Who's got their water wings? --Thomcat 15:00, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, Sunday in Snoqualmie doesn't look too bad - Duthie Hill Park is a mountain biking park. Please post a trail map here if you find one. No idea if the hash is on one of the trails, but it looks like a fun expedition regardless! --Thomcat 15:06, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Apparently this park is still very much in the planning stages. Off to Talk:Snoqualmie, Washington for further details and any expedition planning. --Thomcat 16:59, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Neighbourly Teasing
"Removed non-expeditions. Seattle has only one in March 2009."
... which, it should be noted, was achieved by a Vancouver graticulean! --Robyn
March 13-15
Friday's geohash is not-close-enough to the Edmonds Kingston ferry run. Well, close enough to be in danger of being struck by a ferry, but not close enough to ride through it on the ferry, assuming they follow the dotted line closely. The Saturday or Pi-Day geohash looks pretty good - someone's backyard in upper Factoria/Newcastle, and very near Cougar Mountain. I'm not that familiar with the trails, but it would be a nice combined expedition to visit the house at, oh, say 1:59pm, then go for a hike in the nearby wilderness. This alternate meetup time would definitely count for Centurion. For Sunday I have to ping HarlequinsDad, because this geohash is in the Shilshole bay marina. --Thomcat 13:47, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- Cool! We're planning a "Pi Day" Geohash too...now to bake a pie :-) --NCBears 14:25, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- It will be a wet geohash, today - but that's Seattle! --Thomcat 15:18, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
March 20-21
It's close to the Edmonds/Kingston ferry, but it's closer to the Victoria/Seattle ferry Victoria Clipper... How much does it cost to take it? Would we need passports?
-Sparro
- Not to get *to* Canada. Getting back, though.... Actually, just checked the website - no passport required until June 1 2009. You will need good ID though. --Thomcat 21:37, 20 March 2009 (UTC)
April 3-5
Friday is in the Meadowdale neighborhood, up somebody's driveway I think - will hit Zillow. Saturday NE of Shelton, or in Snoqualmie on some sort of vehicle race area? Hard to tell from the satellite, but it's got tracks baby! Sunday it's in the drink near Whidbey Island. --Thomcat 13:45, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
April 17-19
Celebrate your income tax return by buying a kayak or renting a boat, because that's what it will take to get to today's wet geohash. Saturday is near Olympia somewhere (Hi Marcy!), and Sunday is next to an ice-cream-cone shaped pool near Northgate in North Seattle. I'm just trying to figure out how to make Saturday work in the virgin recently deflowered North Cascades graticule... --Thomcat 13:46, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Are you thinking of trying the Sunday? That's a motel or something, isn't it? It looks accessible. -Robyn 18:59, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
April 24-26
Was hoping for a good Mount Rainier or Mount St Helens geohash, but not this weekend. Friday and Sunday are off on the peninsula. Saturday is a nice park in Burien. I'll be there at the 4:00 meetup time... Correction, I will be umpiring a baseball game at that time. I hope to make it over earlier in the day, though. Propose a time and I can meet you! --Thomcat 19:57, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
May 30
I am tempted to visit this guy's House at 4:00 today.
June 12-14
Hope you like malls - or swimming. Friday it's at Puyallup's South Hill Mall. Saturday, just west of Vashon Island. Sunday, it's another mall near Olympia, I think. Yes, I'm not dead yet. --Thomcat 13:42, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
August 01
2009-08-01_47_-122 - Geohashers from Vancouver stopping through on a saturday morning. Hope to see you there! Also, are there any plans in the works for a PAX geohash again this year? --Xore 22:55, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
August 14-16
Saturday's meetup is in the water of Lake Washington off Leschi Park. Your chance to get a water geohash using a boat - anyone available? Friday and Sunday are up on the peninsula, again. --Thomcat 14:00, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to be visiting the area (and free) on the 16th. At this time, I'm thinking I'll swing by Leschi Park in the afternoon and do a retrohash of Saturday. I don't have a boat, but I'll get as close as I can. -- Jhon 07:00, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- What time, Jhon? Will see if I can get down to meet you. :) --Thomcat 15:11, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
September 4-7
Friday is behind the Magnolia Self Storage here in Seattle. Saturday a steep hillside near Highway 101 on the peninsula. Sunday is also on the peninsula, and Monday is the parking lot for Endeavor Middle School in Milton. A good Saturday alternative is just south of Olympia Airport. A very remote suggestion for Sunday is 7800' up the North Mowich Glacier in the Mount Rainier graticule. --Thomcat 14:28, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- This being PAX weekend, might i recommend a saturday alternate meetup on the corner of 7th and Pike? (47.61160968, -122.33318210) There's a presentation at 4:30 i don't want to miss. Maybe if anyone is interested we could do something sunday also? Let me know -- Xore
2009-10-17 - Gig Harbor
I live pretty close, and will probably be around if any other Seattle geohashers want to show.
2008
Dear God, they are all so far away!!
Gas concerns rule me out for this weekend (5/30 to 6/01). Mayhaps those who are going can offer carpooling services?
Carpooling should always be part of the plans! We should start hashing it out Friday morning for a Saturday trip. This city has a reputation to uphold, after all. --Leoger
Saturday June 21st Geohash
So, for the first time in awhile, I have a free Saturday (I think). I definitely would like to make an excursion to wherever the Seattle GeoHash is that day or an alternate. Morethen willing to pick up people and/or carpool. Takers? - Narfy
July 11-13
Friday and Saturday are in the water, Sunday in the middle of a rail yard. Friday's alternate (see below or here is the best bet for a meetup this week. --Thomcat 13:51, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Saturday is about the best water location possible: in Lake Washington in beautiful weather, and yet far enough offshore that it's impressive. And if we don't all reach the exact location, Madrona Park is good. Jack 06:58, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
July 19th-20th
Olympia? It's in Olympia all weekend. Anyone know if that Saturday is accessible? I wanted to go to the hash on the way north, not backtrack to Olympia. -Robyn
Saturday should be accessible, although in the wilds of the woods so wear appropriate hiking boots. I will ironically be in Seattle that day.
If people are interested in the Sunday meetup, I'm there. It'd be a great time to attempt the Golf Geohash, we could be the first! -Marcy
- I like the south end, but admit I am tempted to try for Saturday's North Cascades hash which is not far from Granite Falls. --Thomcat 03:29, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, we'll aim there too. -Robyn
- More planning on the talk page for the expedition. 2008-07-19 48 -121 --Thomcat 19:23, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Weekend August 1-3
- Friday 8/1 - restricted, unless you have access to Fort Lewis
- Saturday 8/2 - Hartstene Island, looks reachable
- Sunday 8/3 - Puget Sound
Neighboring graticules don't look much better for this weekend. Enjoy Seafair instead I guess.
I suggest that we meet up on Saturday at Gasworks Park for Tour de Fat, a free event hosted by New Belgium Brewery. Bicycles, circus arts, amazing bands, and beer. This was one of my favorite events of 2007 and I have high hopes for 2008's version. I would also suggest moving up the meeting time to noon so there's plenty of events remaining. -Marcy
August 8th-10th
- Friday it's in the drink (Pleasane Harbor), right off 101, with a view of Hood Canal.
- Saturday's meetup appears to be private property, but near Carbonado, and on the way to the north flanks of Mount Rainier. I can't make a meetup, though - I'll be out of town.
- Sunday is restricted, except for those navy guys maybe. Bangor Naval Submarine base.
Free movies in Bremerton
Friday Saturday, August 2nd
Princess Bride and Grease!
First Movie starts at 9:20 p.m.
It's right near the ferry terminal from Seattle. And it's free. But you have to go home, when it's over. My apartment is too small and dirty for guests. But if you feel the need (the need for speed the Dread Pirate Roberts!), you should be there.
August 22-24
All south end. Saturday is in the middle of Long Lake east of Olympia. Sunday in Seattle is just off the railroad tracks near the Tacoma Narrows bridge, and probably not public property. Still, could be fun to organize a train trip for geohashing on Sunday. Will look into that. --Thomcat 13:51, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Amtrak Cascades is the train in question. The southend crew could take the #506 leaving Olympia at 2:03pm and arriving in Seattle at 3:55pm. All geohashers could take the #509 leaving Seattle at 5:30pm and arriving in Olympia at 6:54pm. Finally the northend crew could take the #508, leaving Olympia at 8:03pm and arriving in Seattle at 9:45pm. Just one problem -- the key train (#509) is sold out. --Thomcat 15:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Somebody proposed an alternate for Friday (8/22), which also looks to be private property. If this is your house, tell us all about it, and invite us over for couch potato geohashing. We've plenty of games! --Thomcat 19:31, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Movies on the Pedestal
Found out about this through CouchSurfing, and thought that you guys might want to hit a free movie if you're in town. This Thursday it's 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith', and then the last one in the programme is 'Hot Fuzz', so that should be fun (and I'm actually gonna be around for it! WOOHOO!!). Not sure if this justifies its own page or not... just figured this is a good way to notify people of it. Move this if you want to. --Lady Pennywhistle 18:52, 19 August 2008 (local)
August 29-31 + September 1
Friday, Saturday, and Monday are all reachable points. Unfortunately, Saturday is south of Tacoma and not really too near PAX. Road trip after the 4:00 meetup, perhaps?
All PAX planning and discussion is at Talk:2008-08-30 47 -122.
September 5-7
Friday is on Bremerton's peninsula. Sunday is Lake Tapps (splash). Saturday is in somebody's yard, but may I respectfully propose this. Saturday's point in Mt. St. Helens, Washington is in the foothills of Mount Rainier, and looks to be close to a logging road. How about meeting up in Eatonville, then driving and/or biking our way up that road, then hiking in to the trees at the exact point. 3:00 in the park, then leave for the point from there. If you are feeling really crazy, Sunday's point in the same graticule is near the crater, and a pretty easy hike from the forest road. --Thomcat 14:10, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
September 16
The first spot that showed up this morning was 47.765857, -122.212144; 4.4 km from where I work. Since I haven't been to a geohash in almost two weeks, that would have been great. By the time I finished editing the page, though, the spot had moved to Bremerton. Nukewaste, enjoy! --Thomcat 14:57, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
September 19-21
Ahoy and avast, maties! No idea where the winds will blow the coordinates today, but at first sighting they are mostly in the sou-westers. I carved a temporary page to keep an eye on the scalawags. Perhaps by noon we'll be able to settle on a Saturrrrrday meetup spot. --Thomcat 14:31, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
September 26-28
So Many Islands
Friday's island spot is off Toe Jam Hill Road on Bainbridge Island, and doesn't look too accessible on the satellite photo. Saturday's island spot is Possession Estates on Whidbey island, not far from the ferry and a beach park nearby. Sunday is in the middle of the Puyallup river, and not an island in sight.
Need a carpool on Saturday? We can meet at the Mukilteo ferry I think... discussion on the meetup page.
October 3-5
Friday very close to downtown - but in the Sound unfortunately. Saturday is off in the wilds of the western peninsula, and Sunday is in Commencement bay. After two in a row October 1 and 2, I somehow knew I'd have no luck on the weekend.
I'll leave it to our man in Bremerton to report on Saturday's worthiness. No geohashing for me, though. --Thomcat 21:05, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
October 10-12
Sparkamus Prime is up in Vancouver on Saturday, and the geohash is so easy it's trivial. Beats our hash near Lake Tapps. I would go north, but I am headed to Leavenworth of Octoberfest instead - along with trying to hit my third, fourth, and fifth geohashes in a row. --Thomcat 05:38, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
October 17-19
South end hashes for Friday and Saturday; Sunday is just south of downtown Seattle (sodo they call it), and I couldn't miss that one. I'm open to Saturday suggestions - it might be fun to try and visit a neighboring graticule. --Thomcat 13:44, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Seattle Urban Golf Be there! --Nuke 20:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
October 24-26
Friday northwest of Bremerton airport, Sunday southeast of Bremerton airport. For Saturday it's Tacoma, the north side of someones house or barn. Couple of nice parks nearby if somebody wants to setup an alternate. For me, it's halloween fun with the kids - pumpkins, merchant trick or treating, and the like. Cheers!--Thomcat 16:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
November 15
Today (Saturday the 15th) it's pretty near Seattle, near Cougar Mountain, and it looks like a nice day. If other people are thinking about going, I'm up for it a hike there. Jack 20:47, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
November 7-9
Friday it's a ways Southwest of Bremerton, Saturday near a little town called South Prairie. Sunday is offshore between Edmonds and Mukilteo, straight west of Meadowdale Park. I still like the idea of visiting the mountains to the south, but to do that *and* get credit for the graticule, the point has to be towards the northend - highway 165 or 706 for Mount Rainier, for instance. Any ideas about this weekend? Post 'em here. --Thomcat 14:58, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
November 17-24
Not that I have anything against Hood Canal or the land west of Bremerton, but come on - four five geohashes in a row there? The weekend is far more favorable, with a Saturday geohash in an open field between Issaquah and Cedar Grove, and Sunday's geohash in Farrel McWhirter park in Redmond. I'll see if I can scare up a trail map link for this page. See you Saturday at 4?

Turkey day weekend
I was out of town, and failed at a pair of geohashes in the process :( Anyhow, back now, and Sunday's hash is perfect! Let's plan to be there at 2:00, so we have a little daylight to chat, etc. --Thomcat 15:24, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
December 4-7
Friday and Sunday are towards the graticule edges, with Saturday right in the middle. It's an apparently vacant lot, according to Zillow, just east of this house. I'll be busy with a play rehearsal at 4:00, but can probably be there mid-day. Anyone else interested? --Thomcat 14:48, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Possibly. Anyone else? It's walking distance from the Northgate light-rail station, but that one won't be in service by tomorrow (I believe it's scheduled for 2020). Jack 16:54, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- Going to firm up my plans and call it noon. Jack, I don't even know *where* the Northgate Light Rail station is supposed to go. Have to research that I think... --Thomcat 17:14, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
December 12-14
Friday an easy hash at Marymoor park. Saturday a dentist's office in Lacey. Sunday a golf course, also near Olympia. I'm busy this weekend, but considering a midnight Marymoor hash tonight. --Thomcat 15:53, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
I'll go to Saturday or Sunday's meetup if anyone else will be there. Come on, you know you want the golf course award! --Marcy 08:16, 12 December 2008 (Pacific)
- I don't know, Marcy - is there a postcard available for that course? --Thomcat 17:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
- It's entirely possible. They do have gift shop. I was actually talking about the Golf Geohash achievement that no one has yet gotten. --Marcy 09:46, 12 December 2008 (Pacific)
Other
Islands
This sucks. How do we get to those tiny little islands??
- Row boat?
- What if we instead head east to the next graticule when the point falls in or west of Puget Sound? It's always fun to go up to the mountains. - Cahlroisse
- There's mountains to the west as well... Puget sound is basically the eye of a geological hurricane. Everywhere you go, there be mountains. So don't discount the west side trips. - --Nukewaste 22:21, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
We should plan to have one or two outings to the [Mt. Rainier] or [Mt. St. Helens] graticules one Saturday or another when they fall within the parks at an accessible area.--Cahlroisse 05:05, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- It would be a short notice thing, but yeah, I'm in! --Thomcat 22:49, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Facebook Group
There wasn't one, so I made one. Enjoy. http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?id=17607679505 --Fiveofoh 18:18, 16 June 2008 (UTC)
Skyline shot
BTW, this is one of the coolest grat pages in the wiki, IMHO. Is there any way you can make the skyline picture span across the whole top of the page, about 2x it's current size? -- Jevanyn 18:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
- The original is about twice that size. Earlier, I had problems with the grat map colliding with the picture. That is fixed now - but is it too big? Look at this version then vote here. --Thomcat 19:08, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Most recent on top?
There are two kinds of people: those who don't, and those who say things in the wrong order.
FOR!!! Most recent on top, so you can see what is going on on a tiny screen, without scrolling. - Robyn.
AGAINST!!! ...haha, yeah, metahumor aside, whatever. I'll be the cog in your machine. Let's do it. --Nukewaste 10:58, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Hey, a few other pages have been reversing their entries, putting the most recent on top. For or against? --Thomcat 03:55, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
FOR!!! Although as long as it's a sane order, it doesn't bug me too much. Brakos82 20:00, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
First Thursday chatter
- Seattle Art Museum Downtown Seattle 10 AM - 9 PM
--Anyone up for meeting here this Thursday, July 3rd?
- EMP and Sci-Fi Museum Seattle Center 5 PM - 8 PM
I think Thursday is the 3rd of July, but Nukewaste will probably be going to Seattle, so may visit the SAM and the SAAM, and then the SFM in the evening.
I am definitely heading to the Sci-Fi Museum on Thursday JULY (PFFF) 3rd! I've been meaning to do this major geekout for two years now and I haven't had the chance. I'd love for everyone to come! - Sparkamusprime
- Somebody buy Sparkamus a calendar at the gift shop ;) --Thomcat 21:17, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Damnit, it's July. I hate that. You be quiet. :P Sparks
- WutWut? Tentative times - 3pm at Seattle Art Museum; 6pm at EMP/SciFi Museum --Thomcat 19:46, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- See you there, wutwut! Probably more like 5.30pm at the EMP/SciFi! Sparks
What's happened to this Graticule?
You have now fallen to 4th place in Most Coordinates Reached. Do you guys want to admit that the Germans are better Geohashers? I know that you guys are frozen in for the winter but 1 or 2 more Geohashes could move you guys back to second place... Come on... Get Geohashing! --NWoodruff 21:40, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- I've been to a handful of geohashes but haven't documented anything here. New Years resolution - upload my pictures and write up my expeditions. --Thomcat 17:11, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
