Coordinates

West of -30°: 0.20967755786283662, 0.10144168461237785
East of -30°: 0.12536718896775, 0.577110915397159

The first day the 30W Time Zone Rule is in effect. These coordinates became available east of -30° on Friday 23 May by combination of a Dow holiday (Memorial Day) on Monday 26 May and the new 30W Time Zone Rule, which posits that Tuesday's open would come too late in the day for eastern longitudes.

Expeditions

Locations (Alphabetical)

  • Austin, Texas - Located on the south side of US 290 near Paige and highway 21. Should be an easy geohash, if you can make the drive.
  • Boston, Massachusetts - On the banks of a brook in the Blue Hills Reservation south of Milton, MA, just off I-93 exit 3.
  • Brussels, Belgium - The coordinates for Brussels and environs are smack in the middle between the cities of Roly, Villers-en-Fagne, Matagne-la-Grande and Fagnolle. It seems perfectly reachable, but I'm not that familiar with the neighbourhood.
  • Detroit, Michigan - Appears to be a boat ramp or a pier just off Front Road, Windsor, Ontario; perfect chance for Detroit residents to pick up an international geohash!
  • El Paso, Texas - Again, in Mexico. Still very dangerous to cross the border. Probably best to use the Las Cruces, NM coordinates, which are off of Highway 54, near Orogrande, and very accessible.
  • Las Cruces, New Mexico - Located off a 4x4 trail near Highway 54, between Orogrande and El Paso. Possibly on farm or government land, but from the satellite, it looks empty as can be.
  • London, United Kingdom - Very close to Saturday's point - in a field between the villages of Dunsfold and Loxhill.
  • Los Angeles, California - The north Los Angeles meetup is unreachable, as it's on a very steep mountainside: 34.209677°, -118.101442°. However, it is above a hiking trail, which is accessible, and actually quite pretty. http://flickr.com/photos/s0crates82/sets/72157603958244440/
  • Munich, Germany - The coordinates for Munich are in a particularly nice neighborhood. The Exact location seems to be in the backyard of a residential city building, so it may not be appropriate, but right in front of the house is an awesome little park. There is a small chance that you actually can access the backyard as there are cars on the google earth shot (bock will give it a try). There is a very good place to eat not far from the location: The Cafe Hüller is just two blocks north on the corner of Bereiteranger.
  • New York, New York - Smack dab in the middle of the ocean. A good 50 or 60 miles out to sea at least.
  • Raleigh, North Carolina - off of Harrels Hill Rd near Mt. Olive, looks to be on private property
  • Richmond, Virginia - off of Pole Run Rd. near Route 10 SW of Burrowsville
  • St. Louis, Missouri - Right off of Highway MM west of Red Bud, IL.
  • Vancouver, BC, Canada - In the city, in a parking lot on the SE corner of Main St. and SE Marine Drive.
