About me
My name is Elizabeth, and I live in the Vancouver graticule. I am a student at the University of British Columbia; studying computer science, physics and math via the Honours Integrated Sciences programme. I'm from Lethbridge, Alberta; and if asked which part of the internet I am from [1], my answer would be TarValon.net.
I enjoy biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing, and will happily use any of these modes of transportation to get to a geohash; in addition to kayaking, snowshoeing, busing, SkyTrain-ing, ferrying, and bugging rides off of generous people with cars.
Geohashing plans
Next expedition: ?
I'm currently working full time, and have a paper deadline to worry about, so I'll be having fewer crazy full-day expeditions for the next month or so. I'll still try to nab any geohashes that are less than an hour away from UBC, should the Algorithm be so kind to produce any.
I'm planning to build a new bike this summer, so I'll try not to forget when that entitles me to the Maker Achievement. I'm also hoping I'll nab the Pub Geohash, Border geohash, and Admit One Geohash in the near future.
Geohashes
I've attempted a total of eight expeditions, six of which were successful, in four different graticules. I've met 14 geohashers so far, and have adventured with ten of them.
Expeditions
- 2009-05-23 49 -123 (Vancouver, BC): dragged my friend Simon along to the celebration of Mouse Over Day with Rhonda, Rhonda's mom, Robyn, SueB, Wade and Xore.
- 2009-05-21 48 -123 (Salt Spring Island, BC): celebrated Geohashing Day with Rhonda, Robyn, Wade and Xore.
- 2009-05-17 48 -123 (Saanich, BC): a swashbuckling kayak hash 2km off the coast of the Saanich Peninsula.
- 2009-05-09 49 -125 (Courtenay, BC): an epic intention, and an unfortunate failure. Doesn't really count as an expedition.
- 2009-05-03 48 -123 (Salt Spring Island, BC): on the side of a road on Salt Spring Island.
- 2009-04-25 48 -123 (Saanich, BC): first solo geohash, on a golf course in Saanich.
- 2009-04-18 49 -122 (Surrey, BC): with thepiguy, Robyn and Xore.
- 2009-03-29 49 -124 (Parksville, BC): thepiguy's birthday, with him, MylSh, Galaxstar, Robyn and Arbron.
