This graticule covers the part of the United Kingdom (UK) from 52° to 53° latitude, and from 0° to 1° longitude. It contains the city of Cambridge, and several smaller towns including King's Lynn, Wisbech, Thetford, Ely, Newmarket and Haverhill.
Until Sheffield overtook it in 2011, Cambridge was the UK's most active graticule. Although most of the early activity was based around the city, we are now fortunate enough to have active geohashers to the north and east as well, and new hashers and meetups in any part of the graticule are most definitely welcome. Meetups are always good!
The area
The Cambridge graticule covers not only the county of Cambridgeshire, but also parts of Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Lincolnshire. Most of it is land, but the Norfolk coastline falls just inside its northern edge, and, further west, it includes The Wash in Lincolnshire. Much of the terrain is quite flat, with some hillier land in the south, and much of it is farmland. To get a Reverse regional achievement, all the counties above should be geohashed.
Due to the symmetry of coordinates about the prime meridian, the neighbouring Northampton graticule, to the west, will never provide a closer hashpoint than our own graticule, no matter how close to the border you are. However, if the day's coordinates fall close to the meridian, then the hashpoints in the two graticules will be quite close together, offering a good opportunity for a Double geohash.
As most of the graticule is very flat countryside, and Cambridge itself is arguably the "cycling capital of England", this graticule offers excellent opportunities for bicycle geohashing.
Cambridge has enjoyed several spikes of activity over the last few years, and was the UK's most geohashed graticule until Sheffield took over the record in 2011. Cambridge, Sheffield and Norwich are now vying for the title -- watch this space!

- 18 February 2015 (Wed): Sourcerer visited the hashpoint close to a public footpath behind St Mary's church, Market Weston, Suffolk, UK, arriving as the bells tolled midnight.
- 17 February 2015 (Tue): Sourcerer visited the hashpoint just south of the river Lark, Pinford End, Suffolk, UK.
- 15 February 2015 (Sun): Sourcerer visited King's Lynn Sewage Works. This was hashpoint number two today!
- 12 February 2015 (Thu): Benjw found today's hashpoint just before sunset, in a field just off a farm track outside Sutton, west of Ely.
- 11 February 2015 (Wed): Sourcerer visited a field S.E. of Great Barton, Suffolk, arriving at 22:45.
- 10 February 2015 (Tue): Benjw more-or-less reached the hashpoint, which was on a private driveway in the Fens, between Manea and March.
- 09 February 2015 (Thu): Sourcerer visited the hashpoint near Thetford Forest Park, Great Hocking, Norfolk.
- 29 January 2015 (Thu): At midnight, Sourcerer visited a field between Hadley and Ipswich in Suffolk.
- 19 January 2015 (Mon): Sourcerer visited a muddy field, east of Boston, Lincolnshire. His 7th of 7 today.
- 15 January 2015 (Thu): Sourcerer visited the hashpoint on the main road north of and through Long Melford, Suffolk.
- 09 January 2015 (Fri): Sourcerer visited the hashpoint between Withersfield and Temple End north of Haverhill, Suffolk.
2008-2014
107 expeditions took place between 2008 and 2014. These are detailed on the archive pages for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
The highest number of expeditions in a calendar year was the 27 expeditions during 2010, and the highest number in a month was the 11 in September 2012. A few times, Cambridge has been the most active graticule in the world for a particular month, earning us the following shiny ribbons.

- Transhumanist is in the Northampton graticule, but still considers himself a Cambridge resident and is working on improved means of transport.
- The Tongs are in Cambridge and have only just started geohashing.
