A brazen attempt to make a tournament out of geohashing.
I have identified 64 graticules that have had 9 expeditions or more, a nice power of 2, just right for a single-elimination tournament. Graticules that make a 9th expedition by the end of September will be added, making three-way matches in the first round.
Each match will be decided by the number of successful expeditions by the graticules. In case of a 0-0 tie, both graticules will be eliminated; in case of a tie of 1 or more, the first tie-breaker is the total number of geohashers at all successful expeditions.
Graticules will be seeded based on the number of expeditions, with the top 16 (Atlanta through Enschede) not matching against each other in the first two rounds.
