This graticule is at latitude 49, longitude 8 and is Germany's most active. It contains the Rhein-Neckar-Triangle, a densely populated region around Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Heidelberg. Mannheim is not only the graticule's largest city (it's the second-largest city in Baden-Württemberg after the capital Stuttgart), it is also located in the exact center of this graticule.

It includes the southern half of Mainz (the capital of Rheinland-Pfalz) as well as the northern portion of Karlsruhe. It contains large parts of the Odenwald in the east and a little part of the Palatinate Forest in the west.

Length of the graticule: 1.852 km * 60 = 111.12 km; average width: 1.852 km * 60 * cos(49.5°) = 72.17 km; area = 8019.5 km²

On 2016-04-22 the Mannheim graticule caught up with Atlanta for the first time (with 381 expeditions), but only for one day.

  • 2012-09-16: Yakamoz and Rincewind had an easy hash on a field near Mommenheim.
  • 2012-09-06: A field near Rülzheim. DLichti cycled there.
  • 2012-08-26: DLichti arrived at the hashpoint between Rohrbach and Insheim near Landau at around 15:45
  • 2012-07-29: fivetonsofflax cycled to the hashpoint between Mannheim and Viernheim
  • 2012-07-23: Karl_77 found the hashpoint on a meadow in Eppelheim. ilpadre went there later.
  • 2012-07-20: QuarterCacher and Mampfred visited the hash and went on to 2012-07-21 50 8 for a double midnigth achievement.
  • 2012-07-14: QuarterCacher and M got wet at the hashpoint.
  • 2012-06-23: ilpadre and his girlfriend went to a forest in Heidelberg-Ziegelhausen.
  • 2012-06-19: Danatar visited the hashpoint at Muckensturm, a hamlet belonging to Heddesheim.
  • 2012-05-06: Notrespassing.gif Rincewind and Yakamoz failed to reach the coordinates on private property in Mörfelden.
  • 2012-04-16: In Darmstadt, pretty central. alech, d3non and Mirjam went there.
  • 2012-03-19: Near the road on the Weißer Stein mountain near Heidelberg, almost at the top. Danatar cycled there.
  • 2012-03-17: alech went to Heidesheim and flew a kite.
  • 2012-03-09: Rincewind and Yakamoz went to Worms.
  • 2012-02-29: alech failed on his first expedition because he was on the wrong side of the Winkelbach.
  • 2012-02-26: Mampfred went to a street in Durlach near Karlsruhe.
  • 2012-02-25: A train with ilpadre inside went through the coordinates on tracks between Frankenthal and Worms.
  • 2012-02-18: Karl_77 and Kristallviolett took a bus to Gaiberg.
  • 2012-01-15: Karl_77 and TdL visited a hashpoint in steep terrain in the woods near Hirschhorn.
  • 2012-01-07: ilpadre visited a park in Ludwigshafen.
  • 2012-01-03: In a field at the Wild production site in Eppelheim. Karl_77 went there in the morning. ilpadre's approach was stopped by a truck and four police officers that happened to be at the coordinates.

  • 2008-12-30 and 2008-12-31: The two hashpoints being just 4 km apart, ilpadre took the train to the first one in Wörth and walked to the second hashpoint in the middle of the night.
  • 2008-12-10: ilpadre went to Mauer and sat down on a bench.
  • 2008-11-29: Failed expedition by an anonymous hasher.
  • 2008-11-28: Located near Karlsruhe in the forest. Fluxkompensator and a friend were there late in the evening.
  • 2008-11-20: Pcb had a boring, windy, rainy, and dark time at the hash near work.
  • 2008-11-15: Located near Battenberg(Pfalz) in the forest. Ryo and Moe made a midnight hash.
  • 2008-10-29: Again in Heidelberg, a Déjà Vu Geohash for ilpadre.
  • 2008-10-26: Located in the Odenwald, near Heidelberg. ilpadre used the expedition as a running workout.
  • 2008-10-22: Graticule unlocked.png Located in Heidelberg, ilpadre and Danatar missed each other by 45 minutes.
  • 2008-06-01: The first reported expedition in this graticule. Zer0 went to a forest near Epfenbach but did not reach the coordinates (for reasons yet unknown).

For the first time in the history of geohashing the most active graticule of a year is not situated in the United States in 2014. Thanks to the great teamwork of Chemluth, Danatar, Deuded, DLichti, DODO, Ekorren, Elimik31, EmmJay, Funkwecker, GeorgDerReisende, gunpowdertea, ilpadre, LadyBB, Lambda, Mampfred, Q-Owl, Q-Owla, RecentlyChanged, Rincewind, Snoopy, tads, Thomcat and Yakamoz this graticule has the honor to bear this ribbon.

Special thanks and a very honorable mention must be given to GeorgDerReisende, who generously helped to achieve this success, although his own graticule was so close to gain this ribbon and was in the pole position for more than half of the year from 2014-06-22 until 2014-12-28 (when DODO was to greedy to grant it to him). This is very notable since GeorgDerReisende was the only one, who visited a hashpoint in this graticule in 2014 at all.
